Other Address Research InitiativesGo to database of other Address research initiatives. Forms of Address are among the primary linguistic means of negotiating social status in communication. Address is therefore an important object of linguistic research. Beyond the synchronistic linguistics of one particular language, address has also been an object of research in such fields as contrastive linguistics, diachronic linguistics, sociolinguistics, cross-cultural communication, language teaching and literary studies. Even seemingly unrelated fields such as business communication, organisational management and advertising studies use address as a parameter of analysis. Surprisingly for an object of analysis in such a wide variety of fields, address research has not yet had an efficient on-line forum for synergetic discussion and exchange of opinions. Our inquiries about the interest in such a forum have been received with much enthusiasm. The database lists colleagues from all the fields of research mentioned above (and from beyond these fields) who have agreed to post their names and information about their research here in order to foster discussion across disciplines, languages and national borders. We are more than happy to amend and extend this list. If you are conducting or know of relevant research, please contact Leo Kretzenbacher (email: heinz@ unimelb.edu.au) P.S. Email addresses listed in the database have been modified in order to make it less easy for spammers to automatically harvest them from our website. So, wherever an email address is mentioned on these pages, please replace "(at)" with "@"
